Version 0.1-3 of the Rborist Random Forest package can now be downloaded from CRAN. This version follows closely on the short-lived 0.1-2, which failed to install on Solaris.
The new version features incremental performance improvements, as well as internal changes needed to support a sparse representation envisioned for the next release. All reported bugs have been repaired, including a problem with small forest sizes revealed by the Caret package.
Thanks are due to a number of people whose comments and contributions helped ensure a good release. These include Carlos Ortega, Christopher Brown, junwen Huang, David Shaub and the Caret team.
