Speaker of the [R] Kenntnis-Tage 2016: Eugene Harschack | Decadis AG
Eugene Harschack works in the Business Intelligence Solution department at Decadis, where he implements BI solutions for customers. Decadis is an independent IT consulting firm which supports customers in planning, implementing and operating IT infrastructures. The department Business Intelligence Solutions deals with classic BI fields such as data integration, analysis and reporting.
R users are frequently underrepresented in companies. Often, R methods need to be integrated into an existing infrastructure or handed over to colleagues without advanced programming skills. A good way to do this is to integrate R into the open source analytics platform KNIME (www.knime.org). In this way, R scripts can be conveniently bundled and managed. In addition, KNIME offers more than 1000 modules and therefore numerous possibilities for intuitive interaction with data.
The second part of the talk will be dealing with Docker (www.docker.com), the leading platform for containerization of applications. Mostly used in software development, Docker offers advantages for developing and operating R applications. It removes inconsistencies between development, testing and production environment and makes R applications independent of operating systems, installed software, libraries and R packages.
