As you probably already know, satRdays are go — and the location of the first three events in the series is now also decided:
- Budapest, Hungary
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Cape Town, South Africa
Now, I’m extremely happy to officially announce, that the first satRday event will be in Budapest, Hungary on September 3 2016 — at the newly built premises of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, right on the riverside of Danube, at a central location with quite a lot of nearby ruin pubs for the after-conference social events.
This English-speaking, one day conference will start with 1.5 hours long tutorials on introductory and advanced topics (including data visualization, data mungling and validation, machine learning algorithms, Shiny dashboards, scraping data from the web etc) from well-known R developers living around the world.
For the final list of topics and speakers, please visit our homepage in a few weeks — but our keynote speakers (maintainers of around 70 CRAN packages) are already confirmed and I’m happy to announce that Gabor Csardi and Jeroen Ooms will give two fantastic talks on some of their recent projects.
The Call for Papers form is open until the end of the next week, and although we already have quite many confirmed speakers on exciting topics, we are still looking forward to your abstract submission! You can give a standard presentation (20 mins) or lightning talk (5 mins), but we also plan to host a poster session and a dashboard competition with valuable prices — there are many ways to take part of this conference.
Registration is also open since yesterday, and you can buy early-bird tickets for 3000-6000 HUF (~10-20 EUR), which includes workshop and conference attendance, lunch, coffee breaks — no hidden costs. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please get in touch.
I hope to see you at the first satRday conference in Budapest!
