In July 2015, Mango Solutions, the leading data science software and services company, announced their membership of the recently launched R Consortium.  Mango are delighted to announce that their co-Founder and Chief Data Scientist, Richard Pugh, has been elected as the inaugural President of the R Consortium.

As per the blog post released on the R Consortium website Richard will lead the newly elected Board of Directors:

JJ Allaire, RStudio

Louis Bajuk-Yorgan, Tibco

John Chambers, R Foundation

David Smith, Microsoft

Richard comments “I’m thrilled to have been elected as the first President of the R-Consortium Board of Directors and would sincerely like to thank the rest of the board members for their votes.

We’re in a golden age of data science, where proactive analytics is being used more and more to drive decision making.  It is no surprise to us at Mango, that the explosion of interest in data science has gone hand-in-hand with the growth of R.  I truly believe that R is the perfect technology to empower analytics and look forward to helping more and more companies adopt R as a fundamental part of their analytic infrastructure.

Since 2002, we’ve implemented R-based solutions for customers big and small, migrated code from legacy systems, trained thousands of new users around the world and run user groups and conferences promoting the wider adoption and use of R.

Now, with the R-Consortium we’ve joined together with the R Foundation, Linux foundation and other supporters of the R language to further support the R community and to help drive adoption across business and academia.

I know we’ve got a lot work to do, but it’s never been a better or more exciting time to be a part of this amazing community”.

The R Consortium was originally formed by a number of organisations who wished to support the ongoing development and adoption of the R Language:
