Four new Certificate Program for R users at Statistics.com

Statistics.com Launches 4 Certificate Programs

The Institute for Statistics Education at Statistics.com (http://www.statistics.com), a pioneer* in online learning since 2002, announced today the launch of four online certificate programs plus an interactive planning tool that helps prospective students plan and schedule courses. The Institute offers 100+ courses in statistics and analytics, with a format tailored to working professionals. Most courses are 4 weeks long, do not require you to be online at specific times during the week, and offer continuing education credits. The workload for the certificate program is the equivalent of 21 credits in the U.S. academic system.

The Programs in Analytics and Statistics Studies (PASS) strengthen the original certificate offering begun in 2006, by focusing on four areas of study:

Within each PASS, there is a choice of a concentration strand that provides greater depth for each PASS candidate.

  1. Data Analytics PASS (http://statistics. com/data-analytics1) focuses on courses relevant for the study of topics in data analytics (data mining, predictive modeling, forecasting, reliability and more).
  2. Biostatistics PASS (http://statistics.com/biostatistics) includes courses critical for the study of topics in biostatistics, which include controlled clinical trials, epidemiology and environmental science.
  3. Social Science PASS (http://statistics.com/statistics-for-social-sciences) concentrates on courses required for the study of topics in social science, which include the statistical methods needed for designing and analyzing studies (including Bayesian analysis), conducting surveys and analyzing the data they yield, and a unique concentration strand devoted to Rasch methods .
  4. Using R PASS (http://statistics. com/using-r-2) includes courses essential to learning how to program in R and use it for statistical analysis. (This open source statistical software program is growing rapidly in popularity; being new and open source, it lacks the training support provided vendors of commercial software, such as SAS.)

“A PASS Certificate from The Institute will give the boost you need to assume greater responsibility in your job, or move to a new job,” says Peter Bruce, President of Statistics.com.

The courses are taught by recognized authorities with whom you share a private discussion forum for the entire course period. Most PASS candidates choose to take one course at a time. With courses starting every week of the year, there is considerable scheduling flexibility. PASS applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
