After watching 20 wonderful dancers of the 9th season of So You Think You Can Dance, I have presented a geomap of the states where they are coming from (click here). Now, I am interested to this show’s history. I’d like to re-draw the geographic map of dancers’ hometown from SYTYCD Season One to Nine. Here comes the map!
< http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" />California definitely contribute the most to the show, as a lot of great dancers came from the golden state. A total of 36 dancers are from California, although there is only one in this season. Another interesting pattern is that dancers are coming from more and more states, especially when comparing two recent seasons with season 6 and 7. It seems that dancing is becoming more popular, just as Nigel Lythgoe kept saying.
Note: foreigner dancers are not included in the map. There was one in season 6 and 7, there were two in season 1, 2, 3 and 8, and there are two in this season, who are from Australia and Switzerland. Original data from the wikipedia.
